Oh ! that sparkle in her eyes,
So rare yet profound,
Like a childlike joy,
Of her unsuppressed self.
Oh ! when I look into her eyes,
And for a moment I think I can see her soul,
Like the glimmer of truth,
Draped in the shadow of light.
Oh ! that childlike innocence,
When she sleeps deep in her thoughts or dreams,
And all her tribulations I wish to part-take,
In the pale milky light.
Oh ! when she wakes up,
Like a tender leaf's first day in the world,
In her warm embrace, I wish
No morning should be without.
